Installation and Setup

1.Log in to the EventPro Support Website and click on the Downloads tab. Click on the EventPro Automation Service link and save the .exe file.
2.Navigate to the folder where you saved the epautosetup1.exe file. Double-click the .exe. The installation will begin.
3.Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is a requirement for the Task Notification Service. If you do not have it installed on your computer, the installer will automatically install it. Follow the prompts to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. If you already have it installed, the installer will skip this step.
4.Welcome to the Automation Service Setup Wizard: This window explains what the installer will do. Click Next.

5.Confirm Installation: If you are ready to proceed with the installation, click Next.

6.Installing Automation Service: The Automation Service will be installed. The progress bar will indicate how much time is remaining.

7.The EventPro Automation Configuration window appears.

8.The Service Status field and Start/Stop Service button appear at the top of each page. In the upper left corner, there are four options: Connection Settings, Debug Settings, Automation Items and SMTP Settings. Click on each button to adjust the settings below.

1.The Display Name will be set to Main and cannot be changed.
2.The Provider will be set to SQL. EventPro's Task Notification Service is only available for the Enterprise (SQL) Edition.
a.Server and Database: Enter your server name and database.
b.Use SQL Authentication: If you want to Use SQL Authentication, select this checkbox. Enter the User name and Password below.

1.Select the checkbox if you want to Run in Debug Mode. If the Debug Mode is on, the service will record notes of what is occurring in the program in a file called DebugLog.txt. This mode is intended to help users find out if something went wrong, and to assist EventPro Software Support in troubleshooting an issue.
2.Debug File: The DebugLog.txt file is stored in the same directory as the Settings files, which is automatically determined by the operating system you are using.
3.Click the View Debug Log button to view the DebugLog.txt file. An example of some of the information that may appear in the log would be:
a.Service starting and stopping information
b.Service delay settings
c.Time and type of notification execution
d.Subject line of messages being processed
e.Error messages of failures
f.Receiving server information

There are currently three Automation Items, which will send out notifications for Tasks (Actions). The notification emails will be sent to the User or User Group assigned in the Action in EventPro. To review how to assign Actions to Users, and how to select the Reminder, Start and End Dates/Times of Actions, see Chapter 11: Actions, Creating Actions.

1.To adjust the setting of an automation item, select the item and click the Edit button above.
2.The Notification window for the item opens.
a.Task Reminder Notification: This notification email will be sent when the Action's Reminder Date has been reached.

i.Check Interval: Enter the number of minutes for the interval between the Service's scans of the database looking for Action reminders.
ii.Enabled: Select this checkbox to turn this automatic notification item on.
iii.Last Successful Run: This date will display either the install date, or the last time the service successfully ran and sent the notification emails. The service will use this time plus the number of minutes of the Check Interval to determine when to next check for Action reminders.
b.Task Start Notification: This notification email will be sent when the Action's Start Date has been reached.

i.Check Interval: Enter the number of minutes for the interval between the Service's scans of the database looking for Actions that have started.
ii.Enabled: Select this checkbox to turn this automatic notification item on.
iii.Last Successful Run: This date will display either the install date, or the last time the service successfully ran and sent the notification emails. The service will use this time plus the number of minutes of the Check Interval to determine when to next check for Actions that have started.
c.Task Overdue Notification: This notification email will be sent when the Action is Overdue (the End Date/Time has been reached, but the Action has not been completed).

i.Check Interval: Enter the number of minutes for the interval between the Service's scans of the database looking for overdue Actions.
ii.Enabled: Select this checkbox to turn this automatic notification item on.
iii.Last Successful Run: This date will display either the install date, or the last time the service successfully ran and sent the notification emails. The service will use this time plus the number of minutes of the Check Interval to determine when to next check for overdue Actions.
iv.Overdue After: Enter the number of minutes after the Action's End Date/Time at which the Action becomes "Overdue" and the notification sent.
v.Repeat Overdue Interval: If the Action has still not been completed after the Overdue notification, enter the interval, in minutes, after which Overdue notifications will continue to be sent out until the Action is completed.
3.When you are done, click Save.

1.Under SMTP Settings, enter the Server, Port and Sending Email address for the email from which the notifications will be sent. If you do not know your SMTP settings, please contact your system administrator.
2.If your server requires authentication, check the Authentication checkbox. Enter your Account and Password below.
8.If you want to start the service, click the Start/Stop Service button. The Service Status will indicate whether it is Stopped or Running.
9.When you are done with the Automation Configuration window, click OK.
10.The Installation Complete window appears. Click Close to exit. If you later want to adjust the Configuration, see Start/Stop Service and Adjust Settings.
