Finding a Record
|
|
||
| 1. | Click the appropriate Find button or the ellipsis next to a field to bring up the corresponding [Find] window. |

| 2. | If there is more than one tab in the Find window, click on the appropriate tab. |
| 3. | There may be some checkboxes or radio buttons located in the upper right portion of the window, e.g. Include Status, Include Lock Level, Classification, Search In, etc. |
| a. | Check those boxes to include records of that type or categorization in your search results. |
| b. | To search under all records, you can check all boxes or do not check any of the checkboxes. |
| c. | To select all checkboxes, right-click any checkbox twice. |
| d. | When searching for Companies and Contacts, you have the option to include companies or contacts marked as Inactive. |
| 4. | At the top of the selection grid, click on the Heading under which you want to search (Name, Event Name, Category, Item, etc.). The red arrow will appear in that column header. Scroll to the right to see other headings that may be out of view. Remember that you can rearrange selection grids using the instructions under Selection Grids above. |
| 5. | Type your search term in the Search field. There is a System Setting that allows you to choose whether you want the search to start after there is a pause in typing, or if searches begin only after you press Enter on your keyboard. See Chapter 1: Setting Up EventPro, Step 1: System Settings, General: Find Dialogs. |
| 6. | Matching entries – records that contain the combination of letters you typed in the Search For field – will appear in the selection grid below. In the example pictured above, the user searched by First Name and entered “ca” in the Search For field. All records with a first name containing “ca” – e.g. Cade, Catalina and Rebecca – were displayed as entries matching the search. |

| 7. | To scroll through a list of all records, check the View All checkbox. To more easily find a record, you can re-sort and re-arrange the records in the selection grid by following the instructions above in Selection Grids and Sorting Lists. |
| 8. | In the selection grid, click to highlight the record you want to view or use and click OK. The record will be displayed in the screen or highlighted in the selection grid. |
